Intended Audience Statement
Module C Week 3
The intended audience of this film would mainly consist of young people between approximately 12-19, both male and female. But, I also feel that it could appeal to some adults that are nostalgic people. It is likely most of the audience may be friends or family of the filmmaker because that’s how they would be likely to hear about it. Realistically, I feel it will interest those who are more artistically minded or sensitive and enjoy viewing independent/arthouse films. Appreciators of artistic and foreign cinema and independent filmmaking. Films that this audience may have seen and enjoyed would be films like like The Florida Project (2017), Stand By Me (1986), Moonrise Kingdom (2012) Mommy (2014), Mid90s (2018), Mustang (2015) and Kings of Summer (2013). These people may be situated in local areas to the films origin like Geelong or Melbourne, regular goers to theaters like The Pivotonian Cinema in Geelong or Cinema Nova in Carlton. The kind of people that would normally veer away from mainstream media and more commercial based products and are interested in the story behind they media in which they consume. The audience would consist of those who are able to easily connect and empathize with other people or characters on screen. In their spare time, these people may enjoy creating art, watching movies, exploring and learning about different cultures. Ultimately, I do hope for this film to have a more universal appeal; that it captures a certain humanity that anyone can connect or relate to, no matter where they’re from or what life they have lived, they are able to see the feeling of being young and naïve on screen and find a familiar home in it.
