For my media project, I am going to make a short film representing the youth in an honest, intimate and authentic way. The film, , will follow a group of adolescents living their lives, messing around, and having fun. There’s something about the youth that it, to me, is incredibly beautiful and innocent and it’s something that I really wanted to capture through film. I want the audience to see the feelings of euphoria and total naivety that fill our adolescent years and really appreciate that and see the beauty in it. I hope for the audience to connect with the film, and perhaps see themselves through one of the characters on screen. I also hope this short film will showcase my potential as a filmmaker and prove to people that this is something that I am passionate about and want to do in the future. Throughout the production, I want to explore how I can depict emotion/feeling through the cinematography, experimenting with the use of style, color, framing, angles and settings to depict adolescence. It is also extremely important to me that when shooting, everybody involved has fun. I don’t want it to be a stressful experience for them or myself because not only is that terribly dull, but I think it will become evident in the final product and affect it in a bad way. What is most important to me, is that I can create a piece of work that I, and those involved, can be proud of. For it not to be something that doesn’t feel totally fabricated or artificial. I hope that the audience leaves this film feeling as though they just experienced something incredibly truthful, organic and personal; an intimate portrait of our youth that will truly connect with people.
